Friends,

I certainly hope that you are doing well during these strange times.  I’m sending this email to let you know of some changes in the life and worship of First Presbyterian Church.  Upon advise that we’ve received from doctors and local, state, and federal officials, we are moving, for the time being, to an online format for Worship and Mid-Week Bible Study.  We take seriously the need to be sure that we care for the most vulnerable among us at this time.

We are committed at First Presbyterian Church to stay connected and to continue meeting as a church (albeit virtually) during this time.  Worship for Sunday March 22 and Sunday March 29, both services at their regular times, will be live-streamed on both our church website (fpcjc.org) and on Facebook.  We will work to make these worship experiences engaging and inspirational.  There will be ways and opportunities for you to participate in the worship service through Facebook and through our live-streaming.  We want you, our church family, to commit to joining us online so that we can continue to worship God and learn and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.

The Wednesday Evening Adult Bible Study will also be available through Facebook and at fpcjc.org.  The time for our online study will be 6:30pm.  However, in addition, I am including below a link for a Zoom meeting.  This technology, if you so choose, is free and will allow you to participate with the study face-to-face, simply by clicking on the link and following the easy prompts for setup (Please be sure to allow the program to access your computer’s camera and your computer’s audio so you can see and hear).  I love and use this technology all the time.  There is no risk in downloading.

We will also be sending an email out before each of our major gatherings (Sunday Worship and Wednesday Bible Study) with easily accessible links to join in.  Along with our worship and adult study, there will be an adult Sunday School available at 10am on Sunday along with online programming for children and youth.  Also, please consider sharing your gifts and offerings with the church through online giving or by mailing checks to the church office.  Ministry is continuing in this place and around the world.  Your generosity is needed now more than ever as we seek to adjust to our new, hopefully short-term, reality.

It really is amazing what incredible resources we have at our fingertips to stay connected as the Church.  Certainly, we are walking through these changes together, so please be patient with us.  We, your leaders and staff, love you and are praying for you daily.  Please let us know if you need additional help with technology setup or if you have special needs during this time.  Tutorials are available on our website, but if you need additional help, please don’t hesitate to call.  First Presbyterian Church stands ready to respond.

Blessings to you all,

Paul
