Faith Statement:

Believing that Jesus is our HOPE, we bring HOPE to the children of the mountains of southern Haiti by providing education.
The mission of the Haiti Education Foundation is to provide education to children in St. Matthais and Ascension Parishes of Haiti. Our objective is to help Haitians to help themselves. We have established an avenue for giving where 100% of contributions go to the need designated by the donor. There are no administrative expenses deducted from donations.
The Haiti Education Foundation supports 40 elementary and 10 high schools in the mountains of southern Haiti. The foundation hires over 400 Haitian teachers and staff with an enrollment of nearly 10,000 students. Our schools are predominately located in two parishes in Haiti; Pere Desire is priest in charge of St. Matthais Parish and Pere Vil is priest in charge of Ascension parish. These men work tirelessly in the oversight of all of the schools and churches in the parishes. The HEF counterpart in Haiti is the OCDES Board. This group of Haitian men has been longtime partners and was mentored by HEF founding priest, Pere Jean Wilfrid Albert, prior to his death. These men volunteer their time and service to see that funds sent for the schools are distributed to the priests in charge and oversee various other projects supported by our foundation.

From the inception of the Haiti Education Foundation, the focus has been securing $75 Scholarships for each of the children enrolled. This continues to be at the forefront of our fundraising efforts. Without the students, the buildings have little purpose.
Our Haitian friends are not unaccustomed to tragedy. Over the years, they have endured many hurricanes and floods.

The earthquake on January 12, 2010, was another obstacle in their lifetime of struggles. Eleven of our schools were completely destroyed and several were severely damaged. Temporary structures are now in place so that the children are able to attend school. Although we have many challenges before us, our main focus is in obtaining scholarships for each of the children attending school. The road to full recovery is very long; however, we know that EDUCATION brings HOPE to the children . . . to the future of Haiti.

City, State, Zip:  Nakuru, Kenya   SE
Phone:  011-254-720-422945
Fax:  NA

Email Address:   zablonkuria@yahoo.com

Background:  Zablon came to the United States from his native Kenya to further his theological studies at Beulah Heights Bible College in Atlanta , Georgia.  Shortly after Zablon’s arrival in the Atlanta area, he found a church to join and events began to evolve rapidly.  Initially, Zablon was not sure why God wanted him to leave Kenya to study in the U.S. he just knew that was what he had to do!  As his new American church family experienced his convictions and love, his ministry began to take shape.

Zablon realized that he could help unite his new American church with his Kenyan church.  He presented several community oriented projects his Kenyan church had initiated and the response was, “how can we help.” Zablon’s vision has expanded to the creation of the ROCK BRIDGE MINISTRY where his ministry can grow and include all those who are interested in sharing their love of God by helping and serving the needs of those less fortunate in Kenya.
Organization:  Rock Bridge Ministries

Rock Bridge is working on support for providing clean drinking water to two small communities. Health centers are needed throughout Kenya; Rock Bridge is actively supporting a community based health center and is seeking support for another. As many know AIDS is inflicting heavy casualties throughout Africa.  Many children are left parentless because of this disease.  Without caring help the future for these children is bleak.  Rock Bridge is involved in the Tumaini Children Home and School.  This Home is currently under construction and will be home to approximately 300 wonderful children.  We need long term support and sponsorship of these children so that to a ripe old age they can witness to the saving grace of God.

Prayer Requests/Dates:

9/09 –  Please pray that the students in our discipleship groups would have an increasing vision to impact the students around them with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
–  Pray that the non-believers on campus from churched and unchurched backgrounds would continue to feel drawn and softened to the good news of the gospel.
–  Pray for the new believers in our ministry to grow in their understanding of what Christ has done for them on the cross and that they would be easily integrated into our community.
